Welcome

I believe creativity lives in all of us. The form it takes is as varied as the individual, but it is there. The person who says they aren’t creative have either not found their path, or they don’t recognize what they do as creative. I have a passion for encouraging that creative seed inside anyone who wants to tap into their potential. My focus is in the realm of the fiber arts. Using a crochet hook and yarn, I love to create one of a kind pieces of art. Not everyone would consider what I do art, but I don’t let that stop me. I also spin my own yarn (an art form in and of itself) to use in the things that I make. Neither crochet nor spinning are complicated things to learn and the applications are as varied as your imagination. My fiber interests also include knitting, rigid heddle weaving and needle felting. All applications can find their way into whatever I am making.

Because I don’t follow the “rules” of crochet as it applies to working from a pattern, I am free to follow the hook and yarn wherever it leads me.

Thus my motto, “crochet outside the lines” was born.

My brain is wired in a uniquely Sheryl way; therefore, I approach crochet differently than most. For years I thought something was wrong with me because I didn’t like to follow patterns. I preferred “doodling” to actually working from a pattern. Now I know that I can follow a pattern, but my preference is to crochet freestyle.

So, what is required to be able to crochet outside the lines? An understanding of basic crochet stitches and how they relate to one another as well as proficiency in working the stitches. That is is! No master crochet skills required. As you slowly release yourself from the idea of right and wrong, stitch counts and perfection, you too will be free to express yourself with a hook and yarn.

It is my hope that I can be your guide. The one who encourages you to try new things and discover your inner creative spirit.
